Performances are Thursday, March 30th through Saturday, April 1st at 7:00 pm followed by a matinee on Sunday, April 2 at 3:00 pm.

West Haven - March 22, 2017 -- The Notre Dame Drama Club is proud to present four performances of Seussical over the weekend of March 30-April 2 on the Br. Theodore Oliveira, CSC Stage in the Maureen and George Collins ’58 Auditorium.

It’s a cleverly written story with a heartfelt message that brings together fifteen of Dr. Seuss’s most beloved stories and dozens of characters who would never have crossed paths in the Seuss universe. It’s a tale that the Drama Club is thrilled to bring to life.

The animated cast is led by ND senior Miguel Corzo ‘17 (Hamden) whose soaring vocals portray the raw emotions of the lovable and kind-hearted Horton who tries desperately to save a small world while simultaneously babysitting the flighty Mayzie’s unhatched egg. The “MC” for the evening is the Cat in the Hat, brilliantly portrayed by junior and Drama Club President Nate Matto ‘17 (Hamden).

The Cat leads the audience through the adventures of Horton, who tries to protect the Whos down in Whoville, while his next door neighbor Gertrude, in a spot on performance by Lauralton Hall senior Sarah Kulaga ‘17 attempts to win Horton’s affections and attention. Sacred Heart Academy junior Ashleigh Bass ‘17 plays the flighty Mayzie la Bird in a remarkable performance with the perfect amount of sass and attitude.

Led by powerhouse vocals, including Lauralton Hall seniors Katherine Simonetti ‘17 as the soulful Sour Kangaroo and Anika Vanderwal ‘17 as the Mayor’s Wife, the cast of 45 is ready to delight audiences of all ages with this beautiful story of self-acceptance and the ever relevant message that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.”
