Quinnipiac University’s director of student conduct and community standards

named Outstanding Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional for Connecticut by NASPA

HAMDEN – Stephen Sweet of West Haven, director of student conduct and community standards at Quinnipiac University, was awarded the Outstanding Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award for Connecticut from Region 1 of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators during NASPA’s annual conference in Hartford on Nov. 16.

This award is presented to a student personnel professional who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the profession, contributed to programs that address the needs of students, and helped to create a campus environment that promotes student learning and personal development.

“This award is a reflection of the meaningful work of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at Quinnipiac and the commitment of everyone at Quinnipiac and beyond who supports our work as educators,” Sweet said.

Quinnipiac’s Chief Experience Officer Tom Ellett said Sweet is deserving of the award.

“I find Steve to be the consummate professional, always balancing the needs of the community with those of the individual who has violated policy,” Ellett said. “He cares deeply about the QU student population and is a regular volunteer at many activities and traditions for the Bobcat family. Steve is a leader with an unwavering ethical compass. I thoroughly enjoy working and learning from him.”

Sweet, who joined Quinnipiac in 2019, earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont. He expects to complete a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Quinnipiac in December.
