Teacher Sues Dunkin’ Donuts In West Haven Over Spilled Hot Coffee: Report

A teacher is suing a Dunkin' Donuts in West Haven over claims of suffering first-and-second-degree burns due to spilled hot coffee.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A Notre Dame-West Haven teacher is suing a Dunkin’ Donuts in West Haven over claims he suffered first-and-second-degree burns when a lid fell off a hot coffee in the drive-thru pickup at 967 First Ave., according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports Omar Espinosa, a Spanish teacher and soccer coach, claims in the lawsuit that he has incurred medical costs and increased difficulty performing his work duties and household chores as a result of the injuries due to the employees’ handling of the coffee.

An attorney for the Dunkin’ franchisee argues the injuries were due to Espinosa’s negligence and own lack of sense and care, according to the Register.
