Teen, 19, Charged In Fatal DUI Crash In West Haven

A 19-year-old has been charged in connection with a fatal DUI crash that killed a father of two in West Haven earlier this year.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal DUI crash that killed a father of two in West Haven earlier this year, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports Manuel Martinez, who is a Guatemalan citizen, was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle charges. He was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Police said Martinez was driving with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit on Feb. 21 when he crashed into a vehicle driven by Nicolas Diaz, 52, who died at the scene, according to the Post.
