Teens Arrested After Being Seen Pushing Stolen Car: West Haven Police

An alert resident called police after seeing 5 people pushing a car, then walking away from it. Police made 4 arrests and are investigating.

WEST HAVEN, CT — West Haven Police arrested four people and are searching for a fifth suspect in connection to a stolen car out of Allingtown. A tip from a witness helped lead to the arrests after the suspects were seen pushing the car, which had been reported stolen, according to police.

West Haven Police responded to the area of Hubbard Road at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday on a suspicious persons complaint.

The caller told police that five males were pushing a car but were then walking away from it.

Responding officers immediately encountered two juveniles — one wearing rubber gloves, the other carrying two screwdrivers, according to police. Police also found two facsimile air pistols. Both suspects were detained.

A search of the area was conducted with a K-9 unit and, with the assistance of area residents calling police, two other suspects were located, police said.

A third juvenile and Aries Green, 19, were taken into custody. The juveniles’ names weren’t released because of their age.

Green was charged with larceny, trespass, conspiracy, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was held on bond.

Police are continuing to investigate to identify the fifth suspect.
