Trisha Berk of West Haven Awarded Scholarship for HR Certification

Trisha Berk of West Haven was recently selected as the recipient of the Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship. The scholarship was created by Andy Thiede, an HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, with a passion for helping others in the HR field. Trisha is an HR Business Coordinator at HR Bull Consulting, in North Branford.

To date, Andy has proudly awarded more than $8,500 in scholarships to Connecticut professionals working in HR. Trisha is the 18th recipient of the Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship.

“Trisha has done everything right to pave the way for a wonderful career in human resources, stated Andy Thiede. She added, "Trisha earned a master's degree, joined our local SHRM chapter (SHRM stands for the Society for Human Resource Management, and is the world’s largest HR association), networked with colleagues and landed a position, and now has obtained her HR certification credentials. I can't wait to see what happens next for her!”

Trisha was selected for the HR Certification Scholarship based on her dedication to helping people, and her ambition to excel in her HR career. She used the scholarship to test for the SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional) designation.

On July 1, 2024, Trisha completed the 4-hour SHRM-CP certification test, and passed it the first time.

“I have a lot of big dreams for my career in HR, a set of goals to benchmark, and plans on how I will reach my full potential, said Trisha. She added, “this scholarship allowed me to earn my SHRM-CP certification, which is a key goal that will help me achieve my career objectives.”

ABOUT THE ANDY THIEDE HR CERTIFICATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Andy Thiede HR Certification Scholarship was established in 2016 by Andrea (Andy) Thiede, a 25+ year HR professional from Berlin, Connecticut, who wanted to give back to the HR profession. The scholarship helps offset the expense of obtaining an advanced HR certification.

To date, Andy has awarded 18 HR certification scholarships to Connecticut residents working in the HR field.

Andy is an HR Consultant with KardasLarson LLC, and the Director of Operations for the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut (HRACC). In addition to these roles, she serves as Treasurer of the SMA of Southern New England SHRM chapter, Assistant Treasurer of the Connecticut SHRM State Council, Treasurer for the Tri-State SHRM Conference, and Chapter Administrator for the SHRM Western CT chapter.
