Victim Identified In Fatal Fire In West Haven
One person was killed in a fire that destroyed a home earlier this week in West Haven.
WEST HAVEN, CT — The man who died in a house fire Monday in West Haven has been identified as Frederick Hart, according to the New Haven Register.
WTNH reported that crews found Hart’s body in the debris on Tuesday. The fire happened on Collis Street across from the Public Works Garage.
The Chief Medical Examiner's office said Hart died by smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, and his death was ruled accidental, according to the Register. He was 88.

Hart was a lifelong Westie and the longtime co-owner and operator of Glasscraft Boats in New Haven, according to his obituary. He is survived by three siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.
