WEST HAVEN, CT — Crews from the Regional Water Authority crews are responding to a water main break at the intersection of York Street and Ivy Circle in West Haven, according to officials.

“According to the RWA, repairing the 6-inch main will require a two-gate shutdown, affecting water service to the Grove Hill complex, buildings 10, 20-30, 29-31, 40, and 25-27,” officials wrote in a post on the West Haven City Hall Facebook page. “The water main break may cause some residents to experience temporarily discolored water. Discoloration occurs when naturally occurring minerals in the water, which normally settle to the bottom of a water main, are stirred up by a change in direction or an increased rate of flow.

“The RWA recommends that customers wait until the water clears before drinking it, showering or washing laundry. Consumers experiencing discolored water are advised to run cold water for 5-10 minutes to clear out internal plumbing.
