WEST HAVEN, CT — Nine West Haven businesses were cited for illegally selling tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21 during compliance checks last week, according to police.
“In an effort to decrease the number of underage teens caught in possession of vape products in our city, the West Haven Police Department Crime Prevention Unit scheduled a series of unannounced compliance checks at numerous establishments that sell these items,” police wrote in a post on Facebook.
Members from the Department of Revenue Service Tax Division, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, West Haven Prevention Council, and the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Drug Control Division conducted the inspections on Jan. 17.
