What is your occupation?
Currently retired from a 35+ year career in the business world, I have held numerous positions of responsibility in Finance, Information Technology, Accounting and Taxation. As the Director of Information Technology for a major franchising company, I was responsible for replacing the entire legacy accounting system with a system that had more robust financial controls. I am an effective project manager with the ability to break complex systems into simple components, eliminating wasteful steps and achieving efficiencies.
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
Married to Beverly, my partner of 15 years.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
No
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I am tired of the fraud, waste, mismanagement and self-dealing that have run rampant in our beautiful town and I decided to do something about it. I have the skills and experience to be an effective Treasurer, having spent my entire business career in finance-related positions. I will be a hands-on Treasurer. I will never subordinate my judgment to others and I will always do what I believe is in the best interest of the residents of West Haven, within the law.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Financial mismanagement... To the extent practical I will eliminate robo-signatures -which are an invitation to fraud -and scrutinize each check individually.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have more relevant business experience, and I am not otherwise employed full-time meaning I have more time to devote to being Treasurer.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
Not an incumbent
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Solutions to rampant theft, financial mismanagement, waste and abuse
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Have managed multi- million dollar budgets; managed large departments and successfully managed numerous large-scale projects.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I have the ability to say NO. I pay attention to details and I will manage the City's money as I do my own.
