The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
The quality of the education matters. Currently 17% of WH graduates are college ready. Not many more are prepared for the skill labor market. We need to improve the quality of education. One way is to implement a transition program for ALL students beginning in middle school; matching interest and talent and skills to possible career paths.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I am a parent, educator and resident. I know the struggles to seek the best educational opportunities. I am able to give a first-hand account of the challenges and successes within a school district. I am also a graduate of the district. I served on several committees and would like to see my works directly benefit my neighbors and community.
Accomplishments:
Served on a Board Selection committee. We were tasked with renewing the school charter with the State of Connecticut, Identifying, interviewing, and seating board members.
Other issues:
- Properly fund schools
- Transition program for all students
- Increase student understanding of IEP/ PPT process
- Establish community/youth center
- Give parents a choice for schools
