West Haven Nursing Home Fined After Resident Sexually Assaulted
The state Department of Public Health fined six nursing homes for various violations, the Connecticut Health I-Team reports.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Apple Rehab West Haven has been fined nearly $7,000 by the state Department of Public Health for an incident in which a resident was sexually assaulted by a visitor in 2018, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team.
Cara Rosner of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports a nurse found the resident and a male visitor naked in the resident’s room. The resident, who suffered from a developmental disorder, initially told the nurse they had sex and the man was her boyfriend, according to Rosner.
The resident, who reported the next morning that she had been sexually assaulted, was taken to the hospital and a rape kit tested positive, Rosner reports.
