West Haven Police Ask For Help With 44-Year-Old Cold Case
Police are asking for help with solving a cold case in which the skeletal remains of a woman were found in West Haven more than 40 years ago
WEST HAVEN, CT — The West Haven Police Department is asking for help with solving a more than 40-year-old cold case.
The skeletal remains of a woman were found on the property of the New Haven Water Company adjacent to Route 34 and Derby Avenue in April 1979. The unidentified woman was believed to be in her late teens to early 20s, according to DNAsolves.com.
Police shared a link on social media Wednesday to the woman’s page on DNAsolves along with a call for help.

“DNAsolves relies on donations from people like you to solve cases nobody else can,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Every donation helps a family get the closure they deserve.
“We are so very close to identifying our ‘Jane Doe’ and need to reach our goal! Any contribution is appreciated as we hope to bring closure to our cold case by identifying the victim.”
