West Haven Primary Election 2016 Results: UPDATE
The races for state representative in the 116th District and registrar of voters were extremely close and the candidates refused to concede.

WEST HAVEN, CT — In extremely close races, the Democratic party’s endorsed candidates claimed victories while the incumbents refused to concede the primary elections late Tuesday night.
In the 116th District race for state representative, the endorsed candidate Michael A. DiMassa edged 12-term incumbent Louis P. Esposito Jr. 567 to 545, according to the Secretary of the State’s website.
However, Esposito told Mark Zaretsky of the New Haven Register that he wasn’t prepared to concede the race until he gets “official word” on the absentee ballot totals.

In West Haven, DiMassa received 526 votes to Esposito’s 518. The 116th District also includes a small part of New Haven and DiMassa received 41 votes there compared to 27 for Esposito.
In the race for Democratic Registrar of Votes, the party’s endorsed candidate Sherri Lepper claimed victory over incumbent Patricia Horvath but also said she wasn’t conceding, according to the Register.

Lepper received 1,491 votes compared to 1431 for Horvath, according to the Secretary of the State’s website.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Polls are open until 8 p.m. for West Haven Democrats to cast their ballots in the primary election for state representative in the 116th District and for registrar of voters.
Incumbent Assistant Deputy Speaker Louis Esposito Jr. is challenging Michael A. DiMassa, the party’s endorsed candidate, to be on the Democratic ballot in November. Only residents living in the 116th District are eligible to vote for a candidate.
In the Democratic Registrar of Voters race, the party’s endorsed candidate Sherri Lepper is being challenged by Patricia Horvath.
