West Haven Resident Named To College Academic All-District Team
The College Sports Communicators honor student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
WEST HAVEN, CT — West Haven’s Keegan Riccio, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College women’s soccer team, has been named to the 2022 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Riccio, a West Haven High School graduate, received the honor, along with teammate Amanda McGeehan, of Milford.
The CSC recognizes student-athletes from all over the nation for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, according to a news release.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. In addition, these student-athletes must also have played in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions throughout the season.
Academic All-District winners advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. In addition, first-, Second- and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

McGeehan earned the honor after recording three points on one goal and one assist as a senior midfielder. She scored the game-winning goal for the Falcons against Anna Maria College and posted an assist against Mitchell College in the season opener. In addition, McGeehan was integral on the Falcons' defense, which ranked fifth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 1.21 goals-against average, according to the news release.
“Riccio continued to be the model of consistency with Albertus, tallying 11 points on three goals and five assists to rank third on the team,” the news release states. “The senior midfielder added a goal in three Falcons' victories against Rivier University, Dean College, and Norwich University. Riccio joined McGeehan as a vital member of the AMC backline.”
As a team, the Falcons posted a 9-6-4 overall record and a 6-4-3 mark in the GNAC. No. 6-seeded Albertus upset No. 3 Emmanuel (Mass.) College in the GNAC Quarterfinals before falling in the Semifinals at No. 2 Lasell University.
