West Haven Schools To Provide Free Breakfast/Lunch Through School Year
West Haven Public Schools will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of the school year.
WEST HAVEN, CT — West Haven Public Schools will continue to provide breakfast and lunch free of charge under the Community Eligibility Provision through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"The school districts that are in jeopardy of their funds running out are not on the CEP program," school officials said in a statement. "All West Haven Public Schools will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch for the duration of the school year."
The community eligibility provision is a meal service for school districts in low-income areas. Schools are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students that are eligible for free meals based on participation in other programs, such as the supplemental nutritional assistance program, according to the USDA.
