West Haven Teen, 19, Killed In Crash Was A ‘Beautiful Soul’

WEST HAVEN, CT — The community is rallying around the family of a 19-year-old West Haven resident who was killed in a crash early Saturday morning in New Haven.

Police said Madysin Hilker, 19, of West Haven, and Dajsha Knight, 21, of New Haven, were killed in a three-vehicle crash that happened around 1:50 a.m. July 27 in the area of Middletown and Barnes avenues.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help the family to “prepare for and arrange Madysin's journey home.”

“On July 27, 2024, at 1:52AM, Madysin Marie Hilker's life was tragically taken at 19 years young,” reads a post on the GoFundMe page. “There is nothing that could have prepared our family for such an immense loss. Not only was she a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, but she was a beautiful soul who deserved to have lived a more fulfilled life. To say she will be missed is a complete understatement.”

More than $20,000 has been raised within the first day of the GoFundMe campaign (as of Monday afternoon).
