West Haven Woman Sentenced For Robbing 3 Banks

The woman robbed banks in three different towns within weeks of each other last winter, according to authorities.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A West Haven woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for robbing three banks over the course of three weeks last winter. Courtney Worthington, 31, was also sentenced Wednesday to three years of supervised release, U.S. States Attorney for Connecticut John H. Durham announced in a press release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Worthington robbed the TD Bank at 636 Campbell Avenue in West Haven on December 19, 2016; the Peoples Bank at 198 Amity Street in Woodbridge on January 2, 2017, and the TD Bank at 184 Route 81 in Killingworth on January 5, 2017. During each robbery, Worthington handed the teller a note containing threats and demanding money, according to authorities.

Worthington was arrested on January 5 at a hotel in East Haven. She pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery last July and has been detained since her arrest.
