2 Redding Stores Sold Alcohol To Minors: Police
Compliance was determined by state liquor control agents who observed as a 19-year-old tried to buy alcohol in each of the Redding stores.
REDDING, CT — The Redding Police Department partnered with the Connecticut Liquor Commission for compliance checks on three Redding liquor stores. Only two passed.
This sting was the result of complaints received about minors buying alcoholic beverages at some of the stores, according to Redding Police Chief Mark O'Donnell.
Compliance was determined by state liquor control agents who observed as a 19-year-old attempted to buy alcohol in each of the stores on Jan. 11.

Redding Wines & Spirits, at 119 Black Rock Turnpike, and Lina's Wine & Spirits, at 2 Longridge Road, both sold alcoholic beverages to the minor, according to O'Donnell. Both were subsequently referred by the Liquor Commission Agents for a hearing date.
The Georgetown Package Store, at 34 Main Street in West Redding, was in compliance for the exercise. An employee asked the minor for proper identification, and then refused the teen alcohol before asking him to leave the store.
