A Cat Is Not A Dog

How to address a pet stain, and the stinky residue pets can leave on hardwood floors.  If yours has misbehaved or sadly, been ill while on your hardwood flooring, you’ll know the results linger.   Years’ later hardwood freshly sanded can give off the unmistakable bouquet that says a cat or dog left its mark.  How to get rid of it?  If the wood is sealed and covered over with fresh finish, the odor will lesson, though it will faintly seep through when weather and wood is humid. 

The best solution for lingering pet odor?  If you know where it springs from, the best way to be rid of the smell is to have a wood floor contractor cut out the offending boards, replace them with clean new wood that matches the existing flooring, and refinish the entire area.  Ideally this should be done when you are already planning to refinish an existing hardwood floor—and that is that.
