WESTON, CT — A Revolutionary War encampment featuring musket drills, blacksmithing and colonial-era demonstrations is coming to Weston this weekend.
The Weston History & Culture Center will host the 5th Connecticut Regiment on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 104 Weston Road. The free event is part of Weston’s America 250 celebration.
Organizers said the event will include soldier drills with musket firing, kid’s musket marches, weaving, woodworking, wool spinning, outdoor cooking and Revolutionary War exhibits and demonstrations throughout the day. A food truck will also be on site.
Scheduled events include a Liberty Tree dedication at 10:30 a.m., children’s musket drills at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., a Revolutionary War fashion show at 1 p.m. and historic weaving demonstrations from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will also feature exhibits focused on soldier life, Revolutionary War artifacts and colonial-era tools and trades, according to organizers.
