27-Year-Old In 'Life-Threatening Condition' After Being Found Underwater In Weston

Two hours later divers located the victim approximately 20 feet below the surface, fire officials said.

WESTON, CT — A 27-year-0ld was pulled from the water near Devil's Glen Sunday evening, fire officials said.

At 6:21 p.m. the Weston Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that a fisherman had entered the river near Devil’s Glen and immediately gone below the surface, fire officials said.

The 27-year-old man did not resurface. Weston Police, Weston Fire Department, and Weston EMS responded and initiated a coordinated search of the area.

Cold-water rescue personnel from the Weston Volunteer Fire Department entered the water and conducted an initial search but were unable to locate the victim due to river conditions.

Subsequently, a mutual aid request was made for the Norwalk Police Department Scuba Team.

Upon arrival, the Norwalk Police Department Scuba Team began dive operations. At approximately 8:26 PM, divers located the victim approximately 20 feet below the surface, fire officials said.

The victim was brought to shore, extricated from the area by Weston Fire personnel, and transferred to the care of Weston EMS.

EMS provided immediate medical treatment and transported the victim to Norwalk Hospital in serious, life-threatening condition, fire officials said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Weston Police Department.
