Weston Animal Control Seeks Owner Of Cat Killed By Vehicle

WESTON, CT — Weston Animal Control is asking for the public's help identifying the owner of a black-and-white cat that was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The domestic short-haired cat was found Monday morning at the entrance to Upper Parish Road, just off Georgetown Road, according to Weston Animal Control.

Officials said the animal sustained severe injuries, making it impossible to determine whether it was male or female. Out of respect for the animal, they said photos are not being released.

The incident comes less than a week after animal control shared the story of a snapping turtle that was fatally struck by a vehicle.

"Two different animals. Two different days. The same heartbreaking outcome," the agency wrote in a Facebook post.

Animal control acknowledged that not every collision can be avoided because animals can suddenly enter the roadway. However, officials said many crashes occur because drivers are distracted, traveling too fast for conditions or not paying attention to their surroundings.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, avoid distractions and remain especially alert during the early morning, evening and after rain, when wildlife and pets are more likely to be active.
