Caretaker Accused Of Financial Misconduct Against Weston Resident: Police

WESTON, CT — A caretaker is facing larceny and forgery charges following an investigation into financial misconduct involving a Weston resident, police said.

Carlen Dixon, 50, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody Aug. 6 after Waterbury police encountered her during a motor vehicle stop and determined she had an active warrant stemming from the Weston investigation, police said.

The warrant stemmed from allegations of financial misconduct while Dixon was providing caretaker services for a Weston resident, according to police. Authorities did not disclose the amount of money involved or provide additional details about the alleged misconduct.

During the investigation, Weston police developed information that led them to seek an arrest warrant for Dixon. Police said information concerning her caretaker activities was also referred to the appropriate state licensing authorities for review.

Dixon was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery. Court records classify the larceny charge as a Class D felony and the forgery charge as a Class B misdemeanor.

Police said the arrest warrant initially carried a court-set bond of $50,000 and Dixon was unable to post it before her arraignment. Current court records list a $20,000 professional surety bond and show that Dixon has since been released from custody.

Court records list the case as awaiting a plea and show Dixon is scheduled to return to Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 31.
