WESTON, CT — As Weston students prepare to head back to class for the 2026-27 school year, Weston High School has been named one of Connecticut's top public high schools in U.S. News & World Report's latest Best High Schools rankings.
Weston High School ranked No. 3 in Connecticut and No. 235 nationally in the 2026-27 rankings.
The recognition comes just before the start of the new school year. Weston Public Schools students are scheduled to return to class Wednesday, Aug. 26.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools nationwide, ranking schools based on several measures of student achievement and college readiness.
Schools were evaluated on six factors: college readiness; state assessment proficiency; state assessment performance; underserved student performance; college curriculum breadth; and graduation rates.
Weston was one of several Fairfield County schools to dominate the top of Connecticut's rankings. Greenwich High School ranked No. 2 in the state, followed by Weston High School at No. 3, Darien High School at No. 4, Staples High School in Westport at No. 5, New Canaan High School at No. 6 and Wilton High School at No. 7.
U.S. News said its rankings focus on schools whose students demonstrate strong outcomes on state assessments and college-level exams while also considering graduation rates and the performance of historically underserved students.
The rankings include traditional public high schools as well as charter and magnet schools. U.S. News also ranks schools nationally and within their respective states and metropolitan areas.
