Author Deborah Levison Brings The Crate to Easton Public Library

Award-Winning Trumbull Author Discusses her book, The Crate: A Story of War, a Murder, and Justice on July 29

Award-winning journalist and Trumbull resident Deborah Levison will be at the Easton Public Library on Monday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m., to talk about her book, The Crate: A Story of War, a Murder, and Justice. The book tells the story of her parents, both Holocaust survivors, and their quest to put the horrors of their past behind them. They build a cottage on a lake in Canada, a refuge that brings them peace, until they find a crate in the crawl space underneath it. Inside the crate, they make a horrifying discovery that threatens the tranquility of their lives.

The Crate: A Story of War, a Murder, and Justice, Ms. Levison’s debut novel, recently won the First-Place Award at the 2019 Connecticut Press Club Awards, and also earned a Second-Place non-fiction award in the national competition at the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), which includes both male and female members from across the country.

Deborah Levison grew up in Canada, where she attended the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. She relocated to Connecticut 20 years ago, and has been published in local, regional and national media, both as a director at a leading communications firm and as a freelance writer, earning an Award of Excellence from the Society of Professional Journalists. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
