REDDING, CT — Motor vehicle mishaps were at the top of the Redding Police Department's blotter last week.
On Apr. 25, an employee at the Redding Ridge Post Office reported to police that a motorist had backed into the main mailbox in front of the building and damaged it, before driving off. No injuries were reported.
Neither were there any injuries reported the next day when two motorists traveling in different directions along a very narrow section of Pinetree Road passed so close to each they both damaged their exterior mirrors. Chief Mark O'Donnell said there was no enforcement action taken.

On Apr. 28, a motorist slid off the road and got stuck in a marshy area after trying to navigate a sharp curve northbound along Route 7. Police reported no injuries.
While exiting a parking space on Main Street on Apr. 29, a driver backed their car into another vehicle traveling northbound. No one was injured, but the driver trying to pull out was issued a warning for unsafe backing.

The same day, police say a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed over the yellow line and struck another vehicle stopped at a stop sign near the railroad on Simpaug Turnpike, according to police. The driver of the moving vehicle was issued a warning for traveling too fast, according to O'Donnell.
