Barlow Softball Blanks Weston 12-0 To Remain Unbeaten

Anne Dolan pitches third shutout of the season as the Falcons improve to 6-0

The Barlow softball team extended its winning streak to six games Monday with a 12-0 victory over Weston in a contest that was stopped after six innings due to the mercy rule.

It was the Falcons' third such victory of the season, although the schedule figures to get more difficult with games later this week against New Fairfield and Lauralton Hall.

Anne Dolan notched her fourth win of the season and third complete game shutout as she blanked Weston for the second time in six days in an encounter that counted toward the SWC standings.  The Falcons improved to 3-0 in conference play.

Katherine Acocella led off the bottom of the first with a single, stole second and scored on co-captain Sonia Giorgio's infield grounder to give the Falcons the only run they needed.

The Falcons, who also excelled on defense, erupted for six runs in the third, taking advantage of walks and Weston errors to break open the game.
