Ladies, Thinking About Starting Your Own Business?
Through their challenges and successes Ladies Who Launch Southwest Connecticut members are able to provide new members with the knowledge and support needed to survive and thrive in this economy.
I was first introduced to Kathy McShane, Managing Director of Ladies Who Launch Southwest Connecticut when I attended the Moffly Media event Women in Business this past spring. After attending, I started following their social media avenues. One of Ladies Who Launch Southwest Connecticut Facebook posts was requesting volunteers to help build a home for Habitat for Humanity in Danbury, CT. What a wonderful, worthwhile cause. I decided to help and signed up to join the event.
Not knowing a sole, I went to the event to find the most friendly, outgoing, supportive group of women. We had a blast that day learning some construction techniques, putting up siding and supporting two families in their quest to own their own home.
The next event I decided to attend was held at Lyn Evans Potpourri Design, 103 Elm Street, New Canaan, CT. Pam Friedlander, image consultant and founder of Positive Reflections, was going to teach us all how to have "Fun in Our Closets!" Lyn Evans Potpourri Design has a wonderful collections of stylish clothing and accessories. So, for me, it was a no brainer... I was going to attend an informative session to learn how to use accessories to vamp up my clothing style, network and socialize with a group of professional women. Another successful event!

Pam Friedlander’s presentation was extremely informative. Women learned what jewelry and accessories to wear to flatter their figure. We all were extremely impressed with Pam’s knowledge and how the length of a necklace or accessory could change the whole presentation of your outfit. The women that attended this event were completely a different group of women than the women that attended the Habitat for Humanity. Again, the women were very friendly and supportive. Networking to promote their own business, but at the same time, handing out pointer and support for your business.
The latest event I attended was held at the Carlisle Collection Showroom in Greenwich, CT. I had seen a brief showing of their collection at the Women in Business and thought their clothing was exquisite, Real Women...Real Successes. Kathy McShane had us rotate in small group mini-sessions with 6 women who have launched or expanded their business. They shared their insights with us. It was fantastic! If Kathy had not required us to sit at each session many of us, including myself, would never have attended all 6 sessions. The speakers were highly knowledgeable and the sessions were very informative broadening our horizons.
