WESTON, CT — Firefighters from Weston and Easton responded to a brush fire Thursday morning at Trout Brook Valley Preserve that burned an area about 20 feet by 30 feet, according to the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.

Weston firefighters were dispatched to the preserve at about 11:11 a.m. to assist Easton firefighters with the blaze. Because of the fire's remote location within the preserve, crews used Marine 1 to shuttle firefighters and equipment to the scene, officials said.

Firefighters used portable pumps to extinguish the blaze, with the bulk of the fire knocked down by 12:20 p.m. Crews remained at the preserve to conduct extensive overhaul operations before clearing the scene around 1:30 p.m., according to the fire department.
