Car Pulled From Redding Pond, Nobody Is Inside

Crews from Newtown's Underwater Search & Rescue squad were brought in on the investigation.

REDDING, CT — Emergency response crews from Redding and Newtown used SCUBA gear and a crane as part of an investigation into a car discovered underwater in a Putnam Park pond.

"When we arrived on scene we found a single car into the water, upon investigating there was nobody in the car or the pond," West Redding Volunteer Fire Department officials posted on Facebook.

A search of the area below the near-freezing waters by Newtown Underwater Search & Rescue personnel did not turn up anyone.
