Crazy Week: Fires, Crashes Keep Easton Emergency Services Hopping
If keeping busy helps time pass more quickly, then last week just zoomed by for emergency services crews in Easton.

EASTON, CT — Motor vehicle accidents, a lawn mower fire and a power strip that had seen better days kept town fire, police and EMS crews busy last week.
Answering a report of smoke in a home shortly after noon on Thursday, Sept. 26, first responders found smoke and "a strong electrical burning odor." Upon investigation, firefighters discovered a burned out power strip behind a TV cabinet. Crews removed the strip from the house, and cleared the area, at which time the residents were able to return to the house.

On Wednesday evening, firefighters responded to a report of a lawn mower fire. Crews were able to extinguish it, but the mower was still a total loss, according to a report on the Easton Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

On Tuesday morning, all of Easton's emergency services were pressed into action responding to two motor vehicle accidents, just minutes apart. The first was a rear end collision on Route 59 with minor injuries. Both ambulances responded because of the potential for multiple patients, according to the report, although only one was needed to transport one of the crash victims to the hospital.
Minutes later the second ambulance, along with police and firefighters, was dispatched to a head on collision on Rock House Road. All motorists involved in the crash were evaluated by EMS, and all declined transport to the hospital.

That was the second day in a row that both of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department's ambulances went out at the same time. On Monday, EMS crews responded to two medical calls at the same, according to a report.
