Darien Routs Barlow in Class M Girls Lacrosse Opener [Video]
Freshman Emily Stein scores four goals to lead the way for the Blue Wave, who routed the Falcons 22-4.
Freshman Emily Stein scored four goals Thursday as the Darien girls lacrosse team overwhelmed Barlow 22-4 in the first round of the CIAC Class M state tournament in Redding.
The Blue Wave came into the game seeded just 13th, but its 13-8 record is deceiving because four of Darien's losses came to national powers based in Long Island.
From the opening faceoff, Darien showed it was the stronger team, scoring early and often. The Blue Wave tallied just 11 second into the contest, one of their 15 first-half goals.

Barlow scored again on a goal by Olivia Sennett, but Darien reinserted its starters and netted four more goals over the next seven minutes to open a 20-2 lead.
Dillon Schoen, Brynn Gasparino, Lexie Perticone and Jena Fritts all had three goals for the Blue Wave.
