Driver From Weston Faces Drug Charges In Southeast

He was stopped by state police on I-84.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A Weston, Massachusetts man faces drug charges in Southeast. On Jan. 27, New York state police stopped a 2009 Ford Escape on I-84 at 7:13 p.m. for vehicle and traffic violations.

Police said their subsequent investigation found John H. Masland possessed about 1.0 gram of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 256.3 grams of concentrated cannabis, 1.6 grams of amphetamines, and 64.2 grams of marijuana.

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, both class C felonies
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree
  • Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 4th degree, both class A misdemeanors

Masland was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court, and released in the amount of $1,000 cash bail. Masland is scheduled to reappear before the Court on Feb. 12.
