DUI, Theft, Fallen Tree Mayhem Atop Redding Police Blotter July 8-15

REDDING, CT — Fender benders and a stolen iPad were atop the Redding Police Department's blotter last week.

Police issued a warning to a motorist for following too close, after they rear-ended the car in front of them along Route 107 on July 8.

On July 9, Redding police reported that a motorist was treated for minor injuries and taken to Danbury Hospital after slamming into a tree that had fallen on the Simpaug Turnpike.

Another motorist swerved to avoid the same tree on the same day, but struck a stonewall while making the turn.

Also on July 9, the Redding Police Department received a report of trespassers in the area of the reservoir on Redding Road/Route 53, and a Ledgewood Road resident told police that her iPad Pro was taken either from her vehicle in her driveway or from a parking lot where she works in New Jersey.

On July 11, police patrolling Black Rock Turnpike/Route 58 pulled over James H. Stroud, 63, of Indian Hill Lane in Fairfield. Officers charged Stroud with DUI and driving in the wrong lane. He was issued a $300 cash bond and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 23.

More minor injuries were reported on July 13 after a motorist pulling out of their driveway collided with another moving along Route 107/Glen Hill Road.
