Easton Cancer Survivor Honors Local Restaurant Owner
Easton State Senator Tony Hwang among those honoring The Castle on Post Restaurant & Pub Owner
Patrick Clyne, the longtime proprietor of The Castle on Post Restaurant & Pub in Fairfield, was recently recognized for his many contributions to Clearity, a foundation based in San Diego helping ovarian cancer patients, survivors and caregivers nationwide. Clyne was presented with a certificate for his years of volunteer service to the organization. The award was presented by Noreen Forde, a volunteer for Clearity and ovarian cancer survivor herself.
"Patrick Clyne said yes, when others said no" said Noreen Forde, plant sales organizer. "Patrick stepped up and offered his restaurant, tent and parking lot free of charge so we could organize plant sales that were properly socially distanced. He was such a gracious host, he even had coffee and tea ready for us when we arrived in the early mornings" Forde added.
Clyne has hosted four plant sales for Clearity over the past two years, for Mother's Day in 2020 and 2021 and for Poinsettias in 2020 and 2021. The plant sales have raised over $30,000 with the proceeds helping to provide free programs like Treatment Decision Support and Steps Through OC counseling and other services to families facing ovarian cancer.
