Easton Dems: Nanette DeWester, Chair of the Easton Democratic Town Committee (DTC), invited Connecticut’s elected Democratic representatives to join the committee and its volunteers for their canvass rally on Saturday, September 7 at 1pm when they start the 2019 campaign season.

The rally will launch the municipal elections campaign with a gathering at the Gazebo of the Samuel Staples Elementary School fields located at 515 Morehouse Road in Easton. After the rally, volunteers will set out to knock on doors on behalf of the sixteen Democratic candidates for important municipal positions including First Selectman, Selectman, Board of Finance, Tax Collector, and more.
The Easton DTC expects the following representatives and candidates to be in attendance:

  • Jim Himes, U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 4th congressional district
  • Susan Bysiewicz, Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut
  • David Bindelglass, Candidate for First Selectman of Easton
  • Bob Lessler, Candidate for Selectman of Easton
  • Anne Hughes, State Representative for Connecticut’s 135th district
  • Devon Wible and Tara Donnelly Gottlieb - Candidates for Board of Finance of Easton

This is a significant year for Easton Democrats. During the 2018 elections, Congressman Jim Himes won Easton for the first time ever, the district elected a Democratic State Representative for the first time in 35 years, and the number of Democratic votes earned by all candidates in Easton grew by 70% over the previous election.
“I love coming to Easton to feel the energy of Easton Democrats,” said Himes, “and I urge every Easton voter to come out and meet these outstanding municipal candidates. Local government is even more important today as we work on every level to protect, maintain and build the systems and values that Democrats believe in.”
Nanette DeWester added that, “it’s an exciting time! Easton Democrats are meeting folks and showing voters what a change in local leadership will do for them — now and for the future of Easton. We’re raising awareness on important issues such as caring for our seniors, supporting education, and being a good steward of the environment — topics critical to the health, welfare, and future of our town.”
The Easton DTC also invites the citizens of Easton to join them for many opportunities to meet and greet the candidates, and at the monthly Democratic Town Committee meetings starting at 7:15pm on September 4 and October 2 (open to all registered Democrats in the town of Easton). They encourage residents to be a part of the solutions-oriented team that focuses on the future of Easton.
