Easton Man Recognized for Volunteer Work by State Representative
Gerry Forde Lauded for Two Years As President of the Gaelic American Club, Will Continue As Vice President of the Club
State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey presented Gerry Forde of Easton with a state proclamation from the Connecticut General Assembly for his volunteer service as president of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield at the Club's recent membership meeting. McCarthy Vahey is a member of the club in addition to being a state representative for Fairfield and Bridgeport.
"In recognition of your dedicated service as President of the Gaelic American Club, 2021-2023, we commend Gerry Forde for his commitment to the Gaelic American Club and the broader community and congratulate him on his election on Vice President," stated State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey.
Noreen R. Forde was presented with a bouquet of flowers for her volunteer work as First Lady of the Club in assisting her husband in carrying out the mission of the club. Noreen runs many social and charity events at the Club including dances, musical programs and charity events. The most recent one was for Discovery to Cure at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Gerry Forde ended his tenure as president due to term limits and was elected vice president at the Club’s November 2022 election. He was installed as vice president on January 13, 2023. Gerry, an Irish immigrant, has been active in the Club since moving to Fairfield County about two decades ago. He has served in many roles in Club's Executive Committee.
With nearly 6,000 members and a waiting list to join, the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield is one of the large Irish cultural membership organizations in the state of Connecticut. Located on Beach Road in Fairfield, the Gaelic American Club is a social club that promotes Irish heritage through a vast array of cultural programs. Their property includes a library, resource center, restaurant, pub, ballroom for programs and events and a spacious outdoor area.

Other officers installed include John Brannelly, President; Tom Egan, Financial Secretary; Tom Langdon, Treasurer; Simon McCarthy, Recording Secretary; Aaron Curtis, Sergeant At Arms; and Kelly Rasmussen, Tony Hogan and Sheila Tesei as Directors.
The mission of the Gaelic-American Club is to promote social, civic and cultural activities among the Irish born who have immigrated to the United States and persons of Irish descent.
