Easton Man Wins $250K Playing Lottery Game

Connecticut greeted 25-year-old Chandler Wiegard, of Easton, in a very special way. Recently, Wiegard moved to Connecticut with his fiancé and looks to settle in with a “$250,000 Cashword 3” lottery top prize!

“I forgot [the ticket] came out but I saw someone else buying it,” Wiegard explained to Lottery officials. “I let a woman go ahead of me in line.” Luck has it that the woman had purchased a “$250,000 Cashword 3” ticket and Wiegard followed suit. “I was trying to be nice and let her go first.”

“I scanned the ticket and said, ‘What the…’ I thought it was wrong!” The lucky winner was elated and tried to count the zeros on the Ticket Checker. “I told my dad and he kind of freaked out a little,” Wiegard said with a laugh. However there is one person Wiegard is waiting to tell; his fiancé. “She doesn’t know yet, it’ll be a surprise.”

“I never thought I’d win a top prize. [The prize] will help with the house, bills and I’ll save it for kids later,” Wiegard said happily. With a smile and his check in hand, Wiegard posed for picture to capture his winning moment. It’s safe to say that Wiegard has very much enjoyed his move to Connecticut.

Wiegard bought the winning ticket at OHM Grocery Mart Inc. located on 404 Boston Road in Orange. The retailer will receive a $2,500 check from the CT Lottery.

The overall odds of winning a $250,000 Cashword 3 prize are 1 in 3.00. Of the 4 top prizes worth $250,000, 3 remain to be claimed.
