An Easton police office rescued five dogs from a burning home on Thursday night.

EASTON, CT — An Easton police office rescued five dogs from a burning home on Thursday night.
The Easton Police Department received a 911 call from a Morning Glory Drive resident at 10:07 p.m., reporting that they were evacuating due to a fire in their kitchen.
The first-responding police officer found smoke coming from the house and was notified that there were five dogs still inside. The officer entered the residence and was able to bring the dogs outside to safety.

The Easton Fire Department found a fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it, according to a report from the Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle.
The police officer was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by Easton EMS for treatment of smoke inhalation and was later released.
