Easton Taps Veteran Cop To Be New Chief Of Police
Capt. Richard Doyle has been an officer with the Easton Police Department for 32 years. He takes over as chief next month.

EASTON, CT — The Easton Police Commission unanimously selected Capt. Richard Doyle to be the next chief of police for the Town in a meeting on Thursday.
Doyle has been an officer with the Easton Police Department for 32 years, having worked his way up through the ranks from a patrol officer. He also serves as Easton's emergency management director. His new role as chief is effective April 6.
He will replace former Police Chief Tim Shaw, who has been named to lead the police department in Stamford.

"We are excited to name Rich Doyle our next chief. He has over 30 years' experience in town and is poised to lead the department into the future," said Richard J. Colangelo, Jr., police commission chairman. "We want to thank Chief Shaw for his time here in Easton and wish him well in his next chapter."
Doyle has a bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University, a master's degree from the University of New Haven and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He graduated from the New York City Police Academy in 1986 where he started his law enforcement career in the New York City Police Department.
