Emmanuel Seeks Submissions for The Arts Bloom in Weston

April 11, 2016 (WESTON, Conn.) -- Calling all artists for the third annual The Arts Bloom in Weston fundraiser at Emmanuel Church, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston. To salute local artists, the church has developed an evening to exhibit works in varying mediums. The celebration is designed so that artists and non-profits simultaneously benefit. All are invited to take in local talent and purchase from an array of displayed and auctioned artwork.

The Arts Bloom will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and the event calls for Smart Casual attire. Tickets are $35 per person and will be available shortly via Event Brite; walk-ins are welcome and can pay at the door.

New features this year include a performance by international violinist, Deborah Wong, concertmaster of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. Ms. Wong has conducted a local Mozart concert, recorded for Deutsche Gramophone and other labels, and is a dedicated violin instructor. There will also be live and silent auctions, art-related door prizes as well as wine and refreshments.

The Arts Bloom in Weston committee is seeking original works of Fairfield County professional and amateur artists in the following categories: paintings, ceramics, mixed media, textiles, collages, sculpture, glass, drawing, print making, artisan furniture and photography. Student work is also welcome. Artists will receive a minimum price requested for works sold. Artwork should not exceed 4' in any dimension or 100 pounds. "I've participated in this lovely show for the past two years, with great success. It's wonderful to have such strong support from the local community to exhibit and sell our artwork. I highly recommend participation to my fellow painters and other artists," said Weston artist, Carole McClintock."

A portion of the total proceeds from The Arts Bloom will benefit the non-profits, Weston's Friends of Lachat, WestonArts, and The Greater Bridgeport Symphony.

Artist entry fees are $25 for the first piece, $15 for subsequent work and includes admission to the event. Instructions and applications can be found at Emmanuel's website at www.emmanuelweston.org.
