The RES 5K Raccoon Fun Run and Walk is a tradition at RES, where the community gathers to compete, get a little exercise and have fun on the Saturday morning of Memorial Day Weekend. Over the years that the 5K has been held, more than a thousand runners and walkers have traversed the course, which goes from RES on Route 107 to Great Oak to Old Stagecoach to Gallows Hill and back to RES.
The race is timed; the 1st place adult male and female finishers, and the 1st place youth male and female finishers receive running shoes from Kilometers of Ridgefield. After the 5K, there is a Kids 1-mile Fun Run, held behind RES on the soccer field, where kids 12 and under run five laps, earning a prize after completing each lap.

The entry fee is $20 per participant if received by May 20 ($25 after); entry fees for the Kids 1-mile Fun Run is $10 if received by May 20 ($15 after). Registration includes a t-shirt for all pre-registered participants and other gifts, courtesy of local sponsors.
