The candidate said he is running to address rising costs affecting families across the district.
EASTON, CT — A Fairfield official has launched a campaign for Connecticut’s 28th State Senate District, which includes Newtown, Bethel, Easton and Fairfield, citing rising costs as a key issue for families across the region.
Democrat Rob Blanchard announced his candidacy this week, saying he plans to focus on affordability challenges affecting residents.
Blanchard currently serves on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting and has held the elected position since 2023, where he is deputy majority leader.

He said his campaign will focus on expanding access to affordable childcare and healthcare, increasing state support and addressing property taxes.
Blanchard also referenced broader economic pressures and the need for state-level action to support residents.
He has more than a decade of experience in public service and state government, according to his campaign.
