Fender Benders & Attempted Fraud Top Redding PD Blotter For May 8-14

REDDING, CT — A few fender benders and an attempt to hijack a broadband bill were at the top of the Redding police blotter last week.

On May 8, the Redding Police Department received a call from a Ledgewood Road resident complaining that someone got into her Optimum account and made a bunch of changes regarding services, increasing the overall bill. This investigation remains open.

That same day, a motorist backed into a parked and unoccupied vehicle in a parking lot off Old Mill Road. Police issued the driver a warning for unsafe backing.

On May 9, a driver traveling eastbound on Joel Barlow Drive pulled out onto Turney Road, striking a southbound motorist passing by. No injuries were reported, and no action was taken by the police.

On May 11, a motorist traveling southbound on Route 53 was rear ended as the driver slowed down to make a left turn into a private driveway. The other driver, who told police they didn't see the vehicle directly in front and had not noticed the car had slowed down, was issued a warning for following too close. No injuries were reported.
