Fraud & A Narrow Escape From A Head-On Crash Top Redding PD Caseload

REDDING, CT — Collisions and fraud — attempted and executed — topped the Redding Police Department blotter the last week in April.

The police are still investigating the claim of one Main Street resident that $5,000 has gone missing from their business bank account, reported on Apr. 25.

Two days later, a Pheasant Ridge Road resident told police that someone attempted to use her credit card to purchase two items worth $504. That case as also still open, according to Redding Police Chief Mark O'Donnell.

On Apr. 26, a driver traveling northbound on Route 107 lost control of their vehicle while navigating a curve in the road. The vehicle, struck a utility pole before rolling over onto the passenger's side. The police issued the driver a warning for traveling too fast for the road conditions, but reported no injuries.

Injuries were reported in another accident that occurred two days later, according to police. The driver was traveling eastbound along a section of Highland Avenue which police described as "a hilly winding road" before running off the road and down an embankment. The vehicle rolled over onto the passenger's side, and the driver sustained a bruise and laceration above the left eye. Emergency medical services took the driver to the Emergency Room at Danbury Hospital for further treatment and observation. That investigation is still open.

There was less pain but still more than enough drama on May 1, when police report two vehicles passed so close to each other on a narrow bridge along Poverty Hollow Road that they struck each other's exterior rearview mirrors.
