Harrassment, Theft, Top Redding Police Blotter For June 24-30

REDDING, CT — Harassment, theft, and a handful of fender benders were atop the Redding Police Department's blotter last week.
Neither human nor animal was injured when a motorist, travelling southbound, hit a deer that ran onto Black Rock Turnpike/Route 58 on June 29.
On June 24, another motorist was traveling eastbound on Route 107 and struck a wheelbarrow inside the white fog line, causing its handle to strike the head of a pedestrian. The motorist told police he did not see the wheelbarrow or person as he passed by, but heard a thump and went back, where he found the wheel injured person. Police ticketed the driver for unsafe movement. The injured person was treated at the scene by EMS.

That same day, a motorist told police that he fell asleep at the wheel while travelling northbound on Route 7, ending up on the grassy right shoulder of the roadway, uninjured. Police issued a warning for unsafe driving.
Four days later, a Woodland Drive resident backed out of their driveway and into a passing motorist. No one was injured. Police cited the first driver for unsafe backing.

On June 27, police arrested Richard Dietzman, 57, of Hill Road/Route 107 for allegedly engaging in second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct during a dispute with his landlord on May 24. Dietzman posted his $350 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Court on July 11.
On June 26, a business notified Redding police that a former employee had stolen building materials from a job site on Goodridge Road. The incident remains under investigation.
