Good afternoon,

We have recently made some personnel changes at town hall. Mark Delieto, the zoning and wetlands enforcement officer has retired. He agreed to work for a year or so when we hired him. It is now three years later, and we thank him for his service. Jonathan Rosenthal assumed the zoning enforcement role, and Jeff Borofsky assumed the wetlands enforcement role. Both are long-time residents of Easton and we welcome them. Tina Reynolds, formerly an assistant town clerk, is now my assistant.

Tax bills were mailed on Tuesday, June 25. Payment is due July 1, but bills are payable without interest up to and including August 1, 2024. Tax bills are available to view and pay online here - vendor fees apply. If you are mailing your payment, please include your payment stub with your check; if you would like to make your payment in person, please bring your entire bill(s) with you.
The Connecticut Secretary of State has designated Tuesday, August 13th for the Republican Primary for candidates vying for Republican endorsements for positions on the November ballot.

Republicans Michael Goldstein and Bob MacGuffie, each seek to oppose the endorsed Democrat candidate, incumbent, Rep. Jim Himes for the 4th District Congressional seat. Republicans, Matthew Corey and Gerry Smith are each seeking the Senatorial seat occupied by the Democrat-endorsed candidate, incumbent, Senator Chris Murphy.

The Republican Primary will be preceded by seven (7) days of early voting from August 5th through August 11th, and held at the Easton Library Community Room. Hours for Early Voting are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hours on Tuesday, August 6th and Thursday, August 8th, will be from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
For those Republicans who either haven’t voted early or by absentee ballot, Primary Day, is Tuesday, August 13th, and voting will be held in the Cafetorium at Samuel Staples Elementary School, from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.

As a final note, remember, in Connecticut, only registered Republicans are eligible to vote in the August Primary, in person, by Early Vote, or by Absentee Ballot. One of the most highly anticipated events in Easton is the Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival which begins July 30th and runs through August 3rd. It is an event not to be missed! There are rides for the kids, great games, food, and the ever-popular bingo. Every year the volunteers raffle off a vehicle. This year it is a 2024 Jeep. Daniel Simonelli, Social Services Coordinator and Municipal Agent, is working with local partners to distribute the DataHaven Community-Based Assets and Needs Survey (CBANS) to local residents. HIA is a coalition that was formed in 2003 to address the health needs of Greater Bridgeport, which includes Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull.

The goal of this brief, voluntary survey is to better understand the quality of life and important issues facing people who live in our region. Your valuable input will help guide improvements to programs and services in our area while helping organizations understand where to focus their attention and resources. Connecticut Blood Center, a not-for-profit, independent, community blood center, provides over 65,000 units of blood to over a dozen Connecticut hospitals annually. The Hartford HealthCare network, including the local St. Vincent’s Medical Center, receives all of its life-saving red cells, platelets and plasma blood for patients in need from the Connecticut Blood Center. BLOOD EMERGENCY: From July 22nd – August 12th, the Connecticut Blood Center will be in a blood emergency with a low supply of blood for Connecticut hospitals. Due to the challenges around blood collections during the summer months, there is an URGENT NEED for more blood donations!

Blood Pressure Screening will be provided by the Easton EMS every second Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am at the Easton Senior Center.

The town has finished most of its paving projects. Some folks have concerns about the contour of some of the roads. I am clearly not an engineer, but I have been told that one of the considerations in road paving is not to increase flooding. Sometimes road surfaces are raised in some places to affect drainage. I am happy to discuss and provide information to anyone with concerns.
