Karen E. Zavadsky Friedberg, of Redding, Passed Away

Mrs. Zavadsky Friedberg was a passionate community activist. A funeral service was held on Monday.

Karen E. Zavadsky Friedberg, of Redding, beloved wife of Clayton A. Friedberg, passed away peacefully October 22, 2015 at the age of 76. She had been predeceased by her first husband, Alexander Zavadsky.

She was born in Schenectady, NY and a had been a life long area resident. Karen was a passionate community activist working with organizations such as the YWCA of Greater Bridgeport, Kidney Disease Services, Junior Achievement, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, the University of Bridgeport Campus Thunder, and the University of Bridgeport Knights of Thunder. Karen was formerly the owner of Insurance Services Incorporated and a principle at Beardsley, Brown and Bassett Insurance.

In addition to her devoted husband, she is survived by her children Matt Zavadsky, Susan Anastasia, Erin Band and Elizabeth Exley; step-children Allison Henderson, Darcy Friedberg and Ainsely Friedberg; grandchildren Greg, Taylor, Eric, Alexandra, Nicolas, Hunter, Chase, Daniel, Jessalyn, Joshua, and Lucy; and beloved sons-in-law and a daughter in law.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:00 am at First Church of Christ Congregational, 25 Cross Highway, Redding. Interment will follow at Nichols Farm Cemetery, Cemetery Dr., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut, 835 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06604.
