Katie Berry Feucht's Barn Paintings @ Easton Public Library

On exhibit from September 2, 2015 to October 12, 2015 with an opening reception on Saturday, September 12 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Feucht has been painting for more than 75 years and has explored many styles from formal portrait painting, abstract mystical oils and into watercolor landscapes for many years. Her paintings express her joy and the wonder of being alive. She sees painting as a kind of meditation and seeks to express the spiritual and mystical feelings in her life through her work. She has practiced Zen Buddhism, Sufism, and other spiritual paths and she has maintained a daily discipline of silent meditation for more than 40 years.

This exhibit of Connecticut barns was inspired by moving to Southbury, Connecticut in 2012. There are barns everywhere and it became important to Feucht’s to paint them! She feels that barns are basic to our more rural life here, along with the bears and bobcats, and is concerned that many are falling down and potentially disappearing forever.

Feucht graduated with a BFA from the Washington University School of Fine Arts in St. Louis, Missouri in 1954. She has studied with masters of Chinese Brush painting and Japanese Calligraphy. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 12 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Library.
